Chapter 3
ADMISSION MENU

The ADMISSION MENU allows you to admit the patients you created in PATIENT Menu. Click on ADMISSION from the main menu to display the screens. Here are the submenus within ADMISSION menu:

A. ADMIT PATIENT
1. Click on ADMIT PATIENT to display a list of patient records.
2. Select a patient for admission, and OK. Medeasy defaults to the current day’s date to record admission. If the default date is not the correct admission date, then you must enter the admission date manually.
3. Complete all the necessary fields in this screen. See figure below.

Once you choose a payer source and enter an admission date, you may go ahead and save the admission. On the other hand, to process claims, you are required to designate diagnosis codes, condition codes, etc., and if available, go ahead and enter the required information to facilitate claims via CENSUS Menu (Chapter 4).
In order to facilitate data entry, Medeasy features pre-loaded look-up tables for the following fields. Familiarize yourself with the data requirements and note activation process for each field:

FIELD
ACTIVATION
"Payer Source" Down arrow button
"Admission Type" Double click
"Admission Source"  Double click
"Condition" & "Diagnosis" codes Double click
"Attending Physician UPIN" Double click

Recall that you may add valid condition and diagnosis codes, as well as attending physician codes via MAINTENANCE Menu (Chapter 7).
Although the "Discharge" section is visible, it is not activated. To discharge a patient, please see below. Once you complete data entry, click on SAVE button. Medeasy will then prompt you to assign a room/bed to the patient. Double click on an available bed to complete the assignment and the software takes you back to the main screen.

A. MODIFY ADMISSION RECORD
The MODIFY ADMISSION RECORD screen replicates admission information you compiled previously. To select a patient, either begin by typing the last few letters of the patient’s last name or click on the UP/DOWN arrow. Once admission screen is displayed, click on the field you wish to change and navigate as described above. While in this screen, you may modify any data with the exception of payer source and admission date. To change payer source or admission date, use CENSUS Menu. Note that the discharge information field remains disabled.

B. DELETE ADMISSION RECORD
This screen allows you to delete an incorrect admission record and is password protected. To select a patient, either begin by typing the last few letters of the patient’s last name or click on the UP/DOWN arrow. Admission record screen will be displayed. You will be asked to Confirm the deletion.

C. DISCHARGE PATIENT
You can process discharges via DISCHARGE PATIENT screen. Again, the screen replicates existing admission records. In this screen, the only active fields pertain to discharges. Enter discharge information and click on SAVE before exiting the screen.

D. REVERSE DISCHARGE
If you discharge a patient in error, Medeasy allows you reverse the status of a discharged patient. Use the REVERSE DISCHARGE screen to select a patient and click on REVERSE DISCHARGE button. Once you reinstate a patient’s status, Medeasy restores the patient’s admission information.
Note that once patient is discharged, he/she is no longer assigned to any bed. If you reverse discharge, you should go to bed assignment via CENSUS menu and re-assign bed to the patient.
